Mold Allergy

What is it?

Whether you are indoors or outdoors, mold can trigger your allergies seemingly out of the blue. As soon as those mold spores hit your sinuses and lungs, you may be dealing with flu-like symptoms or painful, itchy eyes. Luckily, there are plenty of medications that have been developed to treat symptoms and even cure the problem. These medications are available over the counter and through prescriptions from an allergist.

Preventative Measures

Mold spores have the unfortunate ability to go almost anywhere. Mold thrives in warm, wet environments, but can grow in chilly ones as well, such as in refrigerator drawers or basements. It’s a good rule of thumb to check and clean these areas at least once a month, and if your mold allergy is severe, it would be wise to wear an N-95 respirator or get someone else to do the cleaning.
