Coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, noisy breathing, or chest tightness are all common symptoms of asthma. Asthma is a chronic, reversible condition causing inflammation and narrowing of the bronchial tubes. Asthma affects 26 million Americans and while there is no cure for asthma, there are effective treatments available.
There are 2 types of asthma:
- Allergic: This type is triggered by exposure to allergens, such as pollens, mold or pet dander.
- Non-Allergic: Brought on by factors such as stress, exercise, illness, extreme weather, irritants in the air and certain medication.
